Terms of Service
Last updated: 30 August 2026
These terms govern your use of indiemotors.co.uk (the "Platform"), operated by IndieMotors ("we", "us"). By creating an account, browsing, or listing a vehicle, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Platform.
What IndieMotors is
IndieMotors is a marketplace that connects independent UK motor dealers with buyers. We are not a party to any sale, part-exchange, or agreement made between a buyer and a dealer - we provide the listing, search, and messaging tools, but the vehicle, its condition, its price, and the transaction itself are entirely between the buyer and the dealer.
Accounts
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date.
- You're responsible for anything that happens under your account, so keep your password secure.
- Accounts are personal or business tools for using the Platform - not for reselling access to others.
Buyers
- An enquiry or "register interest" sends your details directly to that vehicle's dealer. A part-exchange submission is different - it's broadcast to every approved Dealer Pro dealer on the platform, not one dealer you choose, and any of them may contact you with an offer.
- We don't inspect, warrant, or guarantee any vehicle listed on the Platform. Always view a car in person, check its history, and satisfy yourself before buying.
- A dealer being "Approved" on IndieMotors means we've checked their business registration, reviews, and trading address look legitimate - it isn't a guarantee about any individual vehicle or transaction.
Dealers
- Adverts must be accurate - the vehicle, its specification, its condition, and its price must match what you're actually offering. Don't list a vehicle you don't have available to sell.
- You're responsible for complying with UK consumer law (including the Consumer Rights Act 2015) and advertising standards in how you describe and sell vehicles - using the Platform doesn't change your obligations as a trader.
- Subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe at the tier you select. You can cancel at any time from your billing settings; access continues until the end of the paid period.
- Some features are exclusive to Dealer Pro - currently the Stock CRM (cost/margin tracking and the sourcing-to-sold pipeline board), Trade-in Leads, and Insights. If your subscription lapses or you downgrade to Standard, access to these is removed; your other adverts and account data aren't affected.
- We can suspend or remove a dealer account for inaccurate listings, unresolved complaints, or conduct that undermines trust in the Platform.
- Stock can be flagged as a trade listing instead of a public advert. A trade listing is shown only to other approved dealers, not to buyers, and is intended for dealer-to-dealer sales. Consumer protections that apply to a sale to a member of the public (including the Consumer Rights Act 2015) don't apply the same way to a sale between two trade businesses - it's your responsibility to understand how trade sales are treated differently before using this feature.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings, reviews, or messages.
- Use the Platform to harass, spam, or scrape data at scale.
- Attempt to bypass account, dealer-approval, or payment restrictions.
- Use another person's or business's identity without authorisation.
Content you provide
You keep ownership of the photos, descriptions, and other content you upload, but you grant us the right to display and distribute it on the Platform (and, for dealer stock feeds, to third-party tools you connect it to) for the purpose of running the service. Don't upload anything you don't have the right to share.
Liability
The Platform is provided "as is." We do our best to keep it accurate and available, but we're not liable for losses arising from a transaction between a buyer and a dealer, from inaccurate listing data, or from downtime or data loss beyond our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under UK law, such as for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Ending your account
You can stop using the Platform and ask us to close your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, with notice where reasonably possible.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Platform evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
